New Thoughts About Shattered Yesterdays

Hey there, it's me again. Recently I received an email from a reader who thoroughly let me know their thoughts about Shattered Yesterdays and brought up a few concerns. Let's unpack a few things here. One, I appreciated the email vs completely bashing the book on Amazon. Though, my weight in Amazon and Goodreads reviews these days don't carry very far. I read recently some Goodreads reviews about a friend's book and they tore the author up. No matter what, no one deserves that.

This reader is my ideal reader because while they read with their proofreaders mind on (I know how that is), they addressed the concerns with the book respectfully and in a way that didn't put me on the defense. In fact, the reader inspired me to pull up Shattered Yesterdays file and reconsider at least going in and fixing some grammar mistakes the book has as of this writing.

I am in between books right now, as Chasing Time releases on Monday, and my writing trip for setting inspiration for my next book isn't until mid-March. This means I have a few weeks that I can use to address the issues in Shattered Yesterdays

Authors are always going back and fixing things and the difference this time, for me, is I'm not going in and rewriting the whole damn story. This reader didn't enjoy the time jumps (which I understand...they are short and I can see where it could take a reader out of the story...), so I plan to address that too...but not IN the story.

My word for 2025 is FORWARD and I can't do that if I keep going back. While I have a couple of weeks, I do plan to address the grammar concerns in Shattered Yesterdays and I may even play with the cover, though I know that's pushing things in terms of ISBN and such.

My cover for Chasing Time is getting high praise and that means a lot to me as I did that cover completely on my own...minus asking a couple of people about the font. Shattered Yesterdays has gone through plenty of cover changes, so I may just leave that one alone. But, it's always fun to play.

So, if you're like the reader who emailed me and didn't like Shattered Yesterdays due to grammar issues, please know those will be addressed in the next week or two, and I'll be updating those files before my writing trip in March.

I hope you all are have a great February! Until next time...

xoxo, Sarah
